DSS Clears Kaduna Farmer, Awards N3 Million Compensation

The Department of State Services (DSS) has cleared a Kaduna farmer, Idris, of allegations of collaborating with Boko Haram. Following a comprehensive review by a panel led by the Director General, Oluwatosin Ajayi, the DSS found no basis for the allegations, prompting the immediate release of Idris.

The agency approved financial compensation exceeding N3 million to assist in his reintegration and to help rebuild his livestock business. Idris expressed gratitude towards the DSS leadership, while his father, Yusuf Idris, commended the agency's efforts.

The DSS has committed to providing psychological and medical support to individuals wrongfully detained, as part of an initiative to reassess prolonged detention cases. This release is part of a broader effort by the DSS to strengthen public confidence and ensure that national security measures respect justice and human dignity.

The agency has previously announced compensation for other detainees found to lack sufficient evidence against them.
