DSS vs SERAP Defamation Suit: Court Sets Feb 19 for Final Address

The FCT High Court has scheduled February 19 for the final address in a defamation suit brought by the Department of State Services (DSS) against the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP). The suit alleges defamation over claims that DSS officials unlawfully invaded SERAP's office in Abuja.

Justice Yusuf Halilu adjourned the matter after the conclusion of evidence by the defense, including SERAP's Deputy Director Kolawole Oluwadare and two DSS officials, Sarah John and Gabriel Ogundele. SERAP is facing a demand for N5 billion in damages, an apology, and legal costs from the DSS.

SERAP's defense maintains that the DSS operated on its premises with unmarked vehicles and that there was no evidence of physical assault or property damage during the alleged incident.
