D’Tigress Arrives in Berlin for 2026 FIBA World Cup

Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, arrived in Berlin, Germany, ahead of the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, which starts on Friday. The team, five-time African champions, was welcomed by Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany, Ita Enang, and officials from the Nigerian diplomatic mission.

D’Tigress moved to Berlin after concluding a training camp in Zaragoza, Spain, where they played warm-up games against Mali and Puerto Rico. This camp was part of a broader preparation program that included training and friendly matches in the United States, China, and Tenerife, Spain.

Under the guidance of coach Rena Wakama, the team will finalize their preparations in Berlin before their World Cup campaign. Nigeria is placed in Group B with South Korea, Hungary, and France, opening against South Korea on Friday, followed by Hungary on Saturday, and concluding with France on Monday.

D’Tigress enters the tournament as the reigning African champions and made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics by reaching the quarter-finals.
