D’Tigress Unveils Squad for 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup

Rena Wakama, the head coach of D’Tigress, has unveiled her 12-player roster for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. The squad will be led by captain Amy Okonkwo and includes a mix of seasoned players and emerging talents.

This marks D’Tigress's third appearance in the tournament, following their participation in 2006 and 2018. Ezinne Kalu and Promise Amukamara are the only players returning from the 2018 squad, making them the first Nigerian athletes to compete in two FIBA Women’s World Cups.

D’Tigress arrived in Berlin, Germany, on Wednesday for the tournament, which is scheduled from September 4 to 13. They are placed in Group B alongside Hungary, South Korea, and France.

D’Tigress will begin their campaign against the Republic of Korea on September 4 at the Berlin Arena, followed by a match against Hungary on September 5 at Max-Schmeling-Halle, and will conclude the group stage against France on September 7 at the Berlin Arena. In 2018, D’Tigress made history by being the first African team to reach the quarter-finals.
