D’Tigress Begin 2026 World Cup Preparations in USA

Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, has commenced preparations for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup with a training camp in Chicago, USA, starting on July 29, 2026, and concluding on August 2. The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) announced that the team will engage in a series of friendly matches in China and Spain as part of their preparation for the World Cup scheduled for Berlin, Germany, from September 4 to 13.

After the Chicago camp, D’Tigress will travel to Haikou, China, for three international friendlies from August 3 to 14, followed by a training period in Tenerife, Spain, from August 15 to 24, where they will face Spain and Belgium. The final leg of their preparation will take place in Zaragoza, Spain, with additional matches against Mali and Puerto Rico.

Head coach Rena Wakama is leading the team, which includes both foreign-based professionals and home-based players, to enhance fitness, team chemistry, and tactical strategies ahead of the World Cup.
