DWI Defends Ribadu Against Williams' Security Critique

The Democratic Watch Initiative (DWI) has defended Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser (NSA), against remarks made by retired Army General Ishola Williams, who called for a complete overhaul of Nigeria's security leadership. DWI criticized Williams' comments as misguided and lacking an accurate understanding of the country's security architecture.

In a statement issued by its Director of Strategic Communication, Tunji Bamidel, DWI dismissed claims that Ribadu lacks the necessary qualifications and experience for his role. Ribadu, a seasoned security expert with a notable career in law enforcement, particularly as the former head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has made significant strides in addressing corruption within security agencies.

His educational background, including a law degree from Ahmadu Bello University and a master's degree, further supports his qualifications. DWI highlighted Ribadu's successful implementation of strategies that have led to the rescue of 11,000 hostages and a notable reduction in kidnapping incidents, showcasing his effective leadership in enhancing Nigeria's security framework.
