Alaafin of Oyo Urges Unity Against Insecurity This Easter

In a recent Easter message, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, addressed Christians, urging a united front against the escalating insecurity in Nigeria. He noted that banditry fundamentally disrupts the social, economic, and political structures necessary for the country's progress, leading to the destruction of livelihoods.

The monarch criticized the negative impact of insecurity on agriculture, which exacerbates food insecurity and deepens poverty. He pointed out that insecurity stifles investment and undermines state authority, diverting public funds from development projects to security expenditures.

Oba Owoade called for an urgent collective rise against terrorism, describing it as a bloodthirsty menace that shows no regard for human life. He encouraged Christians to fill their hearts with love and appreciation for the sacrifices made by Jesus Christ, emphasizing that peace comes at a price that requires collective sacrifice from all Nigerians.
