Defence Chief Urges Journalists to Uphold Truth and Unity

During an Easter retreat organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Olatunbosun Oluyede urged journalists to prioritize truth and unity as vital instruments for national security. He emphasized that Nigeria's stability relies not solely on military efforts but also on responsible information management.

Oluyede expressed confidence that Nigeria will overcome its current challenges, describing them as temporary. He reaffirmed the military's commitment to combatting terrorism, insurgency, and banditry, while highlighting the strategic role of the media in strengthening national unity and building public trust.

Minister of Defence Moham Badaru Abubakar noted the importance of journalistic ethics in promoting transparency and accountability. Comrade Grace Ik, earlier chairman of the NUJ FCT council, called on journalists to draw inspiration from the Easter message to renew their commitment to truth and integrity in their profession.
