Umuekumenyi Council Backs Odii for Ebonyi Governorship 2027

The Umuekumenyi Leader Council, comprising leaders from two zones in Ebonyi State, has publicly disowned Governor Francis Nwifuru and endorsed Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii as the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the 2027 governorship election. The council's decision was communicated through a communiqué issued after a stakeholders' meeting held in Abakaliki on Saturday.

The communiqué, signed by the council's spokesperson, Barrister Emmanuel Nwibo, expressed concerns over the declining economic standards, youth unemployment, and perceived slowdown in development across the state. The council argued that future leadership in Ebonyi State should be based on competence and proven performance rather than geographical or political sentiments.

They commended Odii for his credible leadership qualities and background in the private sector, positioning him as a strong candidate to drive economic growth and development in the state. The council also urged greater transparency and accountability from the government and called for unity among the people of Umuekumenyi in pursuit of development and good governance.
