Nwifuru Dismisses Rift with Umahi Ahead of APC Primaries

Francis Nwifuru, the current governor of Ebonyi State, addressed speculation regarding a rift with his predecessor, David Umahi. In a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Mondai Uzor, Nwifuru clarified that there is no discord between him and Umahi, emphasizing their commitment to working together for the progress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

This clarification followed a stakeholders' meeting where a consensus approach for the party's primaries was discussed. However, reports indicated that Umahi was advocating for direct primaries, which led to mixed reactions within the party and fueled speculation about potential disagreements.

Nwifuru urged party stakeholders and aspirants to unite and prioritize the party's interests, assuring that all aspirants would be treated equally. He expressed a commitment to resolving any outstanding issues regarding the consensus arrangement amicably as they move towards the 2027 gubernatorial primaries.
