APC Tensions Rise in Ebonyi Over Candidate Selection

Tensions are escalating within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State as the consensus deal for candidate selection ahead of the 2027 general elections falters. The conflict centers around David Umahi, the Minister of Works, who announced his exclusion from the nomination process, citing consultations with President Bola Tinubu and Governor Francis Nwifuru.

This announcement has led to accusations from the Ebonyi Democrat Movement, which supports Umahi, claiming that the APC leadership is acting against the party's broader interests. Governor Nwifuru, who is also a gubernatorial aspirant, insists on the return of incumbent lawmakers, while the APC leadership has warned that Umahi's comments could destabilize the party's chapter in Ebonyi State.
