NSITF Supports Lagos in Employee Compensation Scheme

The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has committed to supporting the Lagos State Government in the effective implementation of the Employee Compensation Scheme. During a sensitization workshop for employee relations officers on Wednesday, Barr.

Oluwaseun Falayi, the Managing Director, assured that NSITF would provide the necessary technical and operational expertise. He highlighted the importance of a comprehensive system designed to protect workers from workplace accidents, occupational diseases, injuries, disabilities, and even death.

The scheme, established under the Employee Compensation Act of 2010, aims to ensure that no worker or family bears the burden of work-related incidents alone. Falayi noted that Lagos State already possesses a strong institutional structure and payroll system, which would facilitate the integration of the scheme without the need for a completely new system.

The initiative is expected to enhance workforce security and manage risks proactively, setting a standard for other states to follow.
