NSITF Reaffirms Commitment to Protect Vulnerable Workers

During a panel session in Abuja, Mr. Oluwaseun Faley, the Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), reaffirmed the organization's commitment to protecting vulnerable workers through its employee compensation scheme. He stated that the NSITF aims to ensure that vulnerable individuals are not neglected.

Mr. Bridget Ashang, the Abuja Region Manager, supported this initiative by discussing the importance of social protection and security schemes. Faley lamented the absence of legal provisions for sanctions, which he believes hampers the effective protection of workers.

The panel included notable figures such as Kachallom Daju, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Hansatu Adegbit, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Mr. Olubunmi Olusanya, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Justice, and Dr. Jake Epel, among others, who contributed to discussions on workplace safety and the need for audits to ensure compliance with safety standards.
