Edo Police Arrest Two for Alleged Self-Kidnapping Scheme

The Edo State Police Command arrested two men, Lucki Alabi, aged 48, and Taiy Enahoro, aged 37, for allegedly staging their own kidnapping to extort 4 million Naira from their families. The arrests took place on June 26, 2023, following intelligence-led investigations.

According to Assistant Superintendent of Police Eno Ikoedem, the preliminary investigation revealed that Enahoro made several telephone calls to relatives of Alabi, falsely claiming that Alabi had been kidnapped and demanding a ransom of 4 million Naira for his release. The police's diligent investigative efforts uncovered the deception, leading to the successful arrest of the suspects.

Ikoedem confirmed that both suspects confessed to their roles in the alleged self-kidnapping scheme.
