Edo Police Arrest Two for Staging Fake Kidnap Scheme

The Edo State Police Command arrested two suspects, Lucki Alabi, 48, and Taiy Enahoro, 37, for allegedly orchestrating a fake kidnap scheme to extort 4 million naira from Alabi's family. The police operation, conducted by the Igarra Division, was based on credible intelligence that led to the suspects' apprehension.

The investigation revealed that on June 23, 2026, Enahoro made several phone calls to Alabi's relatives, falsely claiming that Alabi had been kidnapped and demanding a ransom for his release. Following the police's preliminary investigation, both suspects admitted their involvement in the crime.

They will face charges in court upon the conclusion of the investigation. The Commissioner of Police for Edo State, Mondai Agbonika, warned the public against engaging in criminal activities such as staged kidnappings and urged residents to report any suspicious activities to law enforcement.
