Olumide Akpata Defects to ADC Ahead of Edo Elections

On Tuesday, Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party's governorship candidate for Edo State in the 2023 elections, formally defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) during an event in Benin City. Akpata was accompanied by his running mate for the 2024 governorship election, Yusuf Asama Kadiri.

The event featured prominent attendees such as Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, and John Odigi Oyegun, a former executive governor of Edo State. Akpata expressed optimism about a "new Nigeria" and emphasized the importance of voting for the right candidates.

He highlighted the ADC's commitment to building a better future for Nigeria, despite the current economic challenges. Kenneth Odion, the Edo State chairman of the ADC, praised Akpata's decision to join the party, stating that it would add value to the ADC.
