Olumide Akpata Joins ADC from Labour Party in Edo State

Olumide Akpata, who previously ran as the Labour Party's governorship candidate in Edo State, has defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The formal event took place in Benin City, where Akpata received his ADC membership card.

The event was attended by prominent figures, including Chief John Odigi Oyegun, a former governor of Edo State, and Professor Oserhiemen Osunbor, along with other political leaders. Akpata expressed his intention to strengthen the ADC ahead of the 2024 governorship elections, emphasizing the need for a united front to address Nigeria's current economic challenges.

He acknowledged the support from Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate, and thanked the ADC leadership for their warm reception. Kenneth Odion, the ADC chairman in Edo State, praised Akpata's decision, highlighting the party's commitment to building a new Nigeria despite political obstacles.

The ADC aims to grow its membership and influence in the state as it prepares for the upcoming elections.
