Edo Labour Party Denies Defection to ADC Rumors

The Edo State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) issued a statement on Monday, February 23, 2026, refuting claims of a planned defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Comrade Kelli Ogbaloi and Comrade Frederick Akher, officials of the LP, emphasized that the party's structure in Edo State remains intact and operational at all levels.

They described the defection rumors as a deceitful attempt to mislead the public and the party's members, labeling it a "shameless attempt" to create a false narrative. The LP officials urged the public to disregard these claims, asserting that no formal legal merger process with the ADC has occurred.

They expressed concern over the actions of some party members attempting to lure others into defecting and highlighted that the LP is committed to success in the upcoming 2027 general elections, maintaining that their ideals and manifesto will not be distracted by these deceptive plots.
