Edo Assembly Orders Full Control of Radisson Hotel

The Edo State Assembly's ad hoc committee, led by Ibhamawu Jonathan Aigbonkhai and Addeh Emankhu Isibor, has directed Governor Okpebholo to take full possession of Radisson Hotel and the Museum of West Africa Art (MOWAA). The committee's investigation found that the hotel was purchased by the Edo State Government under former Governor Godwin Obaseki for N2 billion on December 23, 2021, without proper documentation or approval from the State Executive Council or the Assembly.

The committee highlighted that the Hospital Investment Management Company (HIMC) was not the legitimate owner of the hotel, and the agreement to acquire shares from HIMC was void ab initio. It recommended that the state government reclaim control of the hotel, revoke fraudulent occupancy certificates issued to HIMC, and initiate legal actions to recover N17.5 billion.

The committee also emphasized the need for the state government to ensure the properties serve the public interest.
