Edo Assembly Directs Control of MOWAA and Radisson Blu

The Edo State Assembly has instructed Senator Mondai Okpebholo to assume control of the Museum of West African Art (MOWAA) and Radisson Blu Hotel. This directive follows findings from an ad hoc committee led by Hon.

Addeh Isibor and Hon. Ibhamawu Aigbokhan, which revealed that MOWAA's management claimed to have raised N37 billion, conflicting with its financial audit.

The committee recommended that Okpebholo take full possession of MOWAA, asserting that the properties were built with state government funds. They also advised that the Radisson Blu Hotel should remain under state control, as it had not received any financial transfer to the Hospital Investment Management Company (HIMC).

The committee urged the Edo State Government to take immediate action to ensure the properties serve the public interest and to initiate legal proceedings to recover N17.5 billion held by escrow agents. The committee criticized Governor Godwin Obaseki for not informing the Assembly about the transfer of ownership of the hotel.
