Edo State Generates N79bn IGR, Calls for Leakages End in MDAs

The Executive Chairman of Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), Oladele, revealed that the agency generated N79 billion in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in nine months. This figure represented a 46% increase from the previous period, emphasizing the revenue's importance as a lifeline for development in Edo State.

Oladele highlighted the need to address leakages in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure sustainable growth. The implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) and alignment with Nigerian Tax Reform Acts were recommended to enhance revenue transparency and accountability.

The EIRS stressed the importance of adopting digital reporting and leveraging the informal digital economy for sustainable growth, cautioning against MDAs operating separate accounts for tax levy collections.
