Edo State Reopens Schools Amid Security Enhancements

The Edo State Government has announced the reopening of schools that were temporarily closed due to security concerns. This decision, communicated by Mr.

Enodolomwanyi Otamer, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, follows a comprehensive review of the security situation in the state, particularly in the Edo North Senatorial District. The schools are scheduled to resume academic activities on June 15, 2026.

The government has collaborated with relevant security agencies and stakeholders to ensure a safe return for students and staff. Enhanced security measures and additional safety mechanisms will be deployed across the affected communities to protect learners, teachers, and school personnel.

The statement further directed school heads and proprietors to prepare adequately for the safe return of students and staff, urging parents and guardians to ensure their children return to school with the assurance that adequate security arrangements have been made to safeguard the learning environment.
