Edo Senator Praises Governor for School Closures Amid Threats

Senator Joseph Ikpea, representing Edo Central Senatorial District, praised Governor Mondai Okpebholo for his proactive measures in addressing insecurity in Edo State. On Tuesday, Okpebholo ordered the temporary closure of Ososo Grammar School, Ososo Comprehensive High School, and Akoko Edo Secondary School following security alerts from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps about potential bandit attacks targeting schools in Edo North.

Ikpea emphasized the importance of the governor's swift action to protect students from kidnapping threats, highlighting that such leadership is crucial in times of insecurity. He urged citizens in Edo Central to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.

The senator noted that the decision to close schools, although painful for students, was necessary to prevent potential harm. He called for community involvement in security matters, stressing that the situation in Nigeria has escalated beyond the government's capacity alone.
