Olumide Akpata Joins ADC After Leaving Labour Party

Olumide Akpata, the former Labour Party governorship candidate in Edo State, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The formal defection took place on Tuesday at the ADC secretariat in Benin, where Akpata received his party membership card from the state chairman, Kennedi Odion.

The event was attended by several notable political figures, including Peter Obi, the presidential candidate and former governor of Anambra State, Chief John Odigi Oyegun, the former national chairman of the APC, and former Edo governor Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor.

Akpata's move to the ADC is seen as a contribution to the party's vision for Nigeria, particularly following Obi's initiative set for December 31, 2025. He acknowledged the support from the Obidi movement and expressed his determination to bring positive change through this new political platform, emphasizing the goal of creating a nation that benefits everyone, not just a select few, and shifting the economy from a consumption-based model to a production-driven one.
