Edo State Advances Plans to Boost Tourism Economy

Edo State is taking significant steps to unlock its tourism economic potential by reaffirming its commitment to the implementation of the state’s tourism master plan. Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor, announced plans for a 2026 summit and a fashion show organized by the Edo State Tourism Agency in Benin City.

He addressed concerns regarding the ownership and development of the West African Art Museum, assuring that this issue will not hinder the government's determination to advance tourism development in the state. Ikhilor disclosed that the president of the committee is currently reviewing matters related to the controversial museum project and will soon submit a report.

He expressed confidence that the recommendations would provide a resolution to the dispute. The tourism master plan is already developed and is seen as a valuable document capable of driving growth in the sector.

Dr. Ola Awakan, Director General of the Nigeria Tourism Development Authority, assured that the federal government is committed to partnering with the state government to unlock its vast tourism potential.
