Edo State Orders Arrest of Students Over Bullying Incident

The Edo State Government has taken immediate action regarding a bullying incident at Igbinedion Education Centre, ordering the arrest and prosecution of the students involved. Kassim Afegbua, the Commissioner for Education, stated in a Monday interview that the government found the viral video depicting two male students beating and kicking a fellow student unacceptable.

The incident has raised significant concerns among parents about school discipline. Afegbua emphasized that such behavior is intolerable and cannot be justified.

The government has directed the police to ensure that the students face legal consequences, with plans for their expulsion from the school. The Edo State Police Command has been contacted to investigate the matter thoroughly, and parents are expected to cooperate by bringing the involved students for investigation.

The state government has promised to sanction anyone found culpable, while a five-member investigative committee has been established by the Edo State Ministry of Education to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
