Edo Police Arrest Surety for Bigamy Suspect's Escape

Enabulele Sampson, a 64-year-old surety, was arrested by the Edo State Police for failing to honor bail conditions related to a bigamy suspect, Ajayi Patrick. According to ASP Eno Ikoedem, the spokesman for the Edo State Police Command, Sampson was taken into custody after he failed to produce Patrick, who reportedly fled to Canada to evade law enforcement.

The arrest followed a directive given to Sampson to comply with the bail conditions set by the police. The police had received a complaint on March 12, 2026, alleging that Patrick attempted to register a marriage with the Federal Marriage Registry on March 14, 2026, despite already being in a marital union.

Following the complaint, the police deployed to investigate and requested supporting documents, including a marriage certificate, to substantiate the claims of bigamy. Sampson is expected to be arraigned in court to show cause why his bail bond should not be forfeited.
