Edo State Seeks Global Partnerships for Livestock Modernization

The Edo State Government is actively seeking international partnerships and investment opportunities to modernize its livestock production and enhance the animal husbandry sector. Roland Igbadumhe, the Special Adviser to Governor Monday Okpebholo on Livestock Development, represented the state at the 35th annual Sommet de l’Élevage, a livestock summit held in Clermont-Ferrand, France, which began on October 6.
Igbadumhe stated that the government aims to transition livestock farming from traditional methods to a commercially viable, technology-driven industry. He emphasized that the summit is a strategic effort to source global technology and attract foreign direct investment.
The event attracted over 1,700 exhibitors and more than 110,000 stakeholders. Igbadumhe engaged in discussions with French experts and showcased ongoing livestock initiatives, including grazing reserves and capacity-building programs.
The government is focused on production systems that enhance productivity and profitability while reducing environmental impact. The partnerships identified at the summit are expected to contribute to food security and employment in rural communities.
