Aliko Dangote Foundation Launches Student Share Initiative

Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, commended the Aliko Dangote Foundation for its share grant initiative, which encourages students from Nigerian tertiary institutions to engage in the capital market through the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE. The initiative aims to enhance financial literacy, responsible investing, and economic empowerment among young Nigerians.
Eligible students aged 18 and above can apply for an additional 10 shares funded by the Foundation after purchasing at least 10 shares at N525 each, totaling a minimum investment of N5,250. Alausa described this as an innovative approach to prepare students for the formal economy, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI).
The programme requires students to meet specific eligibility criteria, including enrollment in qualifying institutions and possession of a valid Bank Verification Number (BVN). However, additional shares are not guaranteed, and participation is voluntary.
