NUPRC Achieves 1.84 Million Barrels Daily Production

On Friday, Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance, commended the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) for reaching a daily oil production level of 1.84 million barrels. This achievement was highlighted during a visit by NUPRC Chief Executive Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan to the Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja.

Edun described the production figure as a "fantastic new total" and noted that it aligns with President Bola Tinubu's mandate to increase oil production, even amidst ongoing crises in the Middle East. He urged the NUPRC to push the industry towards achieving a target of 2 million barrels per day (mbpd) and emphasized the importance of sustaining production levels.

Eyesan attributed the recent production increase to strategic interventions that addressed previous declines. He expressed optimism about the growth of the petroleum sector, particularly with the upcoming licensing round and the potential for indigenous companies to enhance production capabilities.
