Achimugu Denies Sanwo-Olu Wealth Link Amid EFCC Claims

Achimugu, a businesswoman, has publicly addressed allegations linking her wealth to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. During an appearance on Channels Television, she emphasized her decent background and the legitimacy of her business, which she started in 2001.

Achimugu gained notoriety after a 50th birthday party incident in Grenada. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) declared her wanted for money laundering on April 29, 2025, leading to her arrest at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja in March 2026.

A Federal High Court in Abuja later granted a final forfeiture order for $13 million allegedly linked to her company, Ocean Engin Oil and Gas Ltd. Achimugu clarified that the $13 million was not found in her residence, and she attributed her wealth to owning an oil block, which was awarded through a competitive and transparent bidding process.

When questioned about her relationship with Sanwo-Olu, she stated that she had always accessed power independently.
