EFCC Arraigns Brass Engineering MD for $600,000 Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Egwuch Chinyer Gladi, the Group Managing Director of Brass Engineering Construction Nigeria Limited, for allegedly embezzling public funds amounting to $600,000 (approximately N827 million). Giwa Ogunbanjo. Gladi faces 12 counts of charges, including accepting cash payments exceeding the statutory threshold of N10,000,000 without passing through a financial institution, violating the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act of 2022.
The alleged payments occurred in 12 tranches between March 13 and April 11, 2023. Gladi pleaded not guilty, and his defense counsel, Roi O.U.
Nwaez SAN, informed the court of a pending bail application. The court granted bail at N200 million, requiring two sureties and the deposit of his international passport with the court's registrar.
The matter has been adjourned to November 11, 2026, for trial.
