EFCC Charges Oluwabusayo Ekundayo Over N16.5m Cheques

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Oluwabusayo Ekundayo at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Gwagwalada, Abuja, for the issuance of dud cheques amounting to N16,650,000. The charges were presented before Justice S.

Adepoju. The first count alleges that in 2022, Ekundayo, as the CEO and Chairman of Orion Surgical, issued a cheque for N4,650,000 to Clara Onwumer, which was dishonored due to insufficient funds.

The second count involves a cheque for N12,000,000 issued under similar circumstances. Both counts contravene Section 1(1)(b) of the Dishonored Cheques Offences Act 2004.

Ekundayo pleaded not guilty to the charges, and prosecuting counsel Joyce Audu requested a trial date for the commencement of the proceedings.
