EFCC Chair Urges Youths to Reject Internet Fraud

Ola Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), addressed Nigerian youths in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, urging them to avoid internet fraud. Speaking through Deputy Superintendent of the EFCC, DSE James Adayilo Hosea, at a conference organized by the Organization of African Instituted Churches, Olukoyede discussed the topic ‘Internet Fraud Dangers, Consequences and Godly Alternative.’ He defined internet fraud as the use of technology to deceive individuals for financial gain and outlined its dangers, including arrest, prosecution, and imprisonment.

Olukoyede identified peer pressure and the desire for quick wealth as key motivations for youth involvement in such crimes. He encouraged young people to embrace integrity, develop marketable skills, and seek mentorship.

He emphasized that God created each individual with unique gifts and urged them to use technology responsibly to create value rather than exploit others.
