EFCC Chair Urges Youths to Avoid Internet Fraud

Ola Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), addressed Nigerian youths in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, urging them to avoid internet fraud. Speaking through Deputy Superintendent of the EFCC, DSE James Adayilo Hosea, at a conference organized by the Organization of African Instituted Churches, Olukoyede discussed the dangers and consequences of internet fraud, which includes deception for financial gain through various online scams.

He identified motivations for youth involvement in such crimes as peer pressure and the desire for quick wealth. Olukoyede emphasized that success requires effort and integrity, urging young people to use their talents for positive contributions to society.

He advised them to avoid get-rich-quick schemes, develop marketable skills, seek mentors, and focus on long-term success. The EFCC Chairman warned that engaging in internet fraud could lead to arrest, prosecution, and loss of assets, stating, “All you have laboured for will be taken away.”.
