EFCC Enhances Capacity to Combat Financial Crimes

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), under the leadership of Chairman Ola Olukoyede, has announced its strengthened capacity to tackle emerging financial crimes. This assurance was made during the inaugural Town Hall Meeting of the EFCC’s Zero Tolerance Club at Ahmadu Bello University, Kongo Campus, Zaria, on Thursday.

Represented by Sadiq Abubakar, Assistant Commander of the EFCC II, Olukoyede delivered a keynote address titled “Following the Money: Legal Loopholes and the Fight Against Corruption in Nigeria.” He identified corruption as a significant barrier to Nigeria’s development, undermining public confidence and diverting resources. Olukoyede highlighted the challenges posed by delays in the criminal justice system, which hinder effective anti-corruption efforts.

He called for improved transparency, accountability, and enforcement mechanisms. The Dean of the Faculty of Law at Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Salim Bashir Magashi, praised the initiative for promoting integrity among students.
