EFCC Applauds UNODC Anti-Corruption Program Launch

On March 27, 2026, Ola Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), commended the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for its anti-corruption drive during the launch of a country program in Abuja. This initiative, which will run from 2026 to 2030, aims to address the rising threat of corruption and illicit financial flows in Nigeria.

Olukoyede highlighted the significance of the program, particularly at a time when Nigeria is grappling with evolving threats from transnational organized crime and corruption. He noted the importance of a data-driven approach and inter-agency collaboration to combat these issues effectively.

The launch attracted significant attendance from various judicial and law enforcement agencies, including the National Judicial Institute (NJI), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), among others. The program aligns with the broader commitment to strengthen Nigeria's anti-corruption framework.
