EFCC releases Tambuwal from custody

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released former governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, from custody after he was detained at the commission's headquarters on Monday. Tambuwal was allegedly involved in the fraudulent withdrawal of N189 billion during his tenure as governor.

He had been invited by the commission for questioning and was subsequently taken into custody when he reportedly failed to provide satisfactory answers. A detective from the EFCC confirmed Tambuwal's release, stating that he had been granted administrative bail and was allowed to leave the commission's headquarters after meeting the bail conditions.

It is unclear if Tambuwal will face charges or be arraigned in court. The EFCC's spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, did not respond to requests for comment on the matter.
