EFCC Withholds Tambuwal’s Passport, Grants Ex-Gov Bail

The EFCC has reportedly withheld the passport of former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, after he was honored an invitation to its headquarters in Abuja. Investigators interrogated Tambuwal over suspected violations of the Money Laundering Prevention and Prohibition Act of 2022.

The former governor was granted administrative bail on Monday, with conditions that were met. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the government of using the EFCC to harass and intimidate opposition party leaders, including Tambuwal.

The opposition party has criticized the overnight detention of Tambuwal and called for transparency in the investigation. Additionally, the EFCC has requested urgent information from the Imo State Government regarding the tenure of former Governor Emeka Ihedioha.
