Governor Aliyu Urges Charity for IDPs Beyond Ramadan

In his Eid el-Fitr message, Governor Aliyu of Sokoto State called on Muslims to maintain the spirit of charity beyond Ramadan, particularly towards internally displaced persons (IDPs). He reminded individuals that Islam strongly encourages assistance to the less privileged, which strengthens brotherhood and promotes unity.

Governor Aliyu noted that the state government has introduced measures to improve the welfare of people living in IDP camps, including the construction of 100 houses for displaced persons in Illela Local Government Area. He highlighted the government's provision of food assistance to various IDP camps and commended citizens for complementing these efforts.

Over the past two years, the government has disbursed hundreds of millions of naira in food items and clothing to vulnerable groups, including widows and orphans. The governor assured the people of Sokoto State of his administration's commitment to executing projects that will transform the state, particularly in infrastructure and urban renewal, and urged citizens to continue offering constructive advice to support these efforts.
