Muslim Community Requests Central Mosque in Rivers State

During a courtesy visit to Governor Siminalayi Fubara in Port Harcourt on Friday, the Muslim community in Rivers State, represented by Nasir Uhor, appealed for the establishment of a central mosque and the restoration of the Muslim section of the cemetery. The delegation, which included Islamic clerics and leaders from the Arewa community, expressed gratitude for the governor's leadership style and the opportunity to engage with the government.

Governor Fubara reaffirmed his administration's commitment to protecting the lives and properties of all residents, regardless of their religious or ethnic backgrounds. He emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence and urged religious leaders to promote harmony within the community.

The governor assured the delegation that their requests would be carefully considered in line with available government resources and priorities. He also commended the Muslim community for their discipline and devotion during Ramadan and addressed concerns regarding farmer-herder tensions in the state.
