Fubara Hosts Muslim Leaders, Promises Resident Protection

On Friday, during Eid el-Fitr celebrations, Governor Fubara of River State hosted a delegation of Muslim leaders, including Alhaji Nasir Uhor, Vice President General of the River State Council of Islamic Affairs, at the Government House in Port Harcourt. In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, Fubara assured that every resident, regardless of origin or religion, would be protected in River State.

He acknowledged the contributions of the Muslim community during Ramadan and addressed security concerns, particularly regarding farmer-herder tensions. Fubara noted that River State maintains relative stability through strategic engagement with security agencies and urged Islamic leaders to strengthen internal community mechanisms for peace.

Uhor expressed gratitude for the audience and requested the construction of an ultra-modern central mosque in Port Harcourt, as well as addressing burial challenges at the Muslim section of the Port Harcourt cemetery.
