Rivers Muslim Community Requests Central Mosque in Port Harcourt

On Friday, a delegation from the Rivers Muslim Community, including Islamic scholars and members of the Arewa community residing in the state, met with Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the Government House in Port Harcourt. The delegation, led by Nasir Uhor, expressed gratitude for the governor's inclusive governance style while outlining key concerns affecting Muslims in the state.

They respectfully appealed for the establishment of a central mosque in Port Harcourt and the restoration of a section of the Muslim cemetery at River State University. Uhor highlighted the absence of a central mosque in the state capital as a challenge for worship and the need for proper management of cemetery spaces.

In response, Governor Fubara assured the delegation of his administration's commitment to fairness and protection of residents' rights, regardless of religion or ethnicity. He commended the Muslim community for their discipline during Ramadan and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and security in the state.
