27 Suspected Hoodlums Arrested in Niger State Raids

On Sunday, during a coordinated raid from 8:30 AM to 12:00 noon, the Niger State Police Command arrested 27 suspected hoodlums in Suleja as part of efforts to maintain peace during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations. The operation targeted identified criminal hideouts in areas such as Kantoma and Babangida Market, known for disturbances.

The police recovered dangerous weapons, including cutlasses, swords, and knives, along with illicit substances like cannabis. Items seized included 15 mobile phones, ATM cards, and fake identification cards.

The arrested suspects, aged between 20 and 38, include individuals from Niger State, Katsina State, Kano State, Yobe State, and Kaduna State. Police spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the arrests and stated that the suspects are currently in custody undergoing investigations to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities and to identify possible accomplices.

The police assured the public that operations would continue beyond the festive period to rid the state of criminal elements.
