Eight Killed in Plateau State Attack by Fulani Bandits

On April 9, 2023, eight people were killed in an attack by Fulani bandits in Mbwell Village, Kwata District, Bokko Local Government Area, Plateau State, occurring around 10:30 PM. The victims were identified as Habila Istifanu (38), Hassan Istifanu (31), Iliya Mangut (70), Sundai Gideon (31), Innoc Banaba (20), Lucki Titu (38), Wisdom Lucki (15), and Bwehsun Hassan (25).

Joint security forces responded to a distress call but could not establish contact with the attackers, who fled the scene. The security source attributed the delay in response to the difficult terrain, located 15 kilometers from the troop base.

Casualties included injuries that required evacuation to Bokko Cottage Hospital. Earlier on the same day, troops conducted operations in Wutan Daji, neutralizing 13 suspected terrorists and recovering weapons.

Despite these efforts, security incidents continue to persist across the region, with ongoing operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring normalcy.
