Violence in Plateau: Gunmen Kill Two Villagers

On May 10, 2023, violence erupted in Plateau State as suspected Fulani gunmen attacked the Chenhen Dum Village in the Riyom Local Government Area, resulting in the deaths of two villagers, identified as Peter Dung and Dachung Amos Danbwarang. The attack occurred around 7:40 PM, following an earlier incident where nine cows were reportedly killed and five others injured in the Gero area of Jo South Local Government Area.

A herder named Aliyu Yusuf sustained gunshot injuries during this incident and was rushed for medical treatment. In response to the violence, security personnel intensified operations in the affected communities, conducting clearance patrols and manhunt operations to track down the attackers and prevent further violence.

The situation in Plateau State remains tense, with ongoing clashes between farming and herding communities, particularly in the Riyom and Jo South areas, which are considered flashpoints for conflict.
