Gas Shortages Cause Power Cuts in Lagos, Says Ikeja Electric

On March 24, Ikeja Electric's head of corporate communications, Mr. Kingsley Okoti, reported that gas shortages are the primary cause of power cuts across Lagos, Nigeria. The shortage has significantly reduced energy availability on the national grid, leading to intermittent outages and stricter load shedding in the area.

Okoti explained that the shortfall in gas supply affects thermal plants, which are crucial for electricity production in the country. To manage the situation, Ikeja Electric is working to limit allocations and maintain fair distribution among consumers.

The company is also engaged in ongoing efforts at the national level to address the gas supply issues and restore stable power generation.
