Oyebanji and Candidates Sign Peace Accord for Ekiti Election

On June 20, 2026, Ekiti State will hold its governorship election, and in preparation, Biodun Oyebanji, the current governor, alongside 11 gubernatorial candidates from various political parties, signed a peace accord. This event took place under the auspices of the National Peace Committee, in partnership with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The signing was attended by notable figures including Abdulsalami Abubakar, the chairman of the National Peace Committee, and other dignitaries such as Martin Luther Agwai and Matthew Hassan Kukah. Oyebanji emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, noting that the political parties had recently concluded their local government campaign tour without any recorded violence, reflecting a commitment to a harmonious electoral process in the state.
