Ekiti APC Primaries: Akinlayo Denies Thug Sponsorship

Tension heightened in Ekiti State ahead of the APC House of Representatives primary elections scheduled for Saturday, as the Ekiti State Police Command arrested 11 suspects allegedly plotting to disrupt the electoral process. The police recovered firearms, including two pump-action guns and a Beretta pistol, during a raid at Onikoyi Hotel in Ikun Ekiti.

The operation, conducted by the Rapid Response Squad, led to the arrest of seven suspects, while others escaped. Among those arrested were individuals identified as Adekunle Stephen, Adepoju Adebayo, and others.

Rep. Davidson Akinlayo, who represents the Moba/Ilejemeji/Ido Osi federal constituency and is seeking re-election, denied involvement in the alleged plot, describing the claims as politically motivated attempts to tarnish his image. He emphasized that none of the suspects were affiliated with his campaign and accused opponents of trying to intimidate voters.

The police confirmed ongoing investigations to apprehend fleeing suspects and ensure a peaceful electoral process.
