Police Arrest 11 Thugs Plotting to Disrupt APC Primaries

On May 14, 2023, the Ekiti State Police Command arrested eleven suspects in connection with an alleged plot to disrupt the APC primaries scheduled for May 20, 2023. The operation, which involved the Rapid Response Squad, took place at Onikoyi Hotel in Ikun Ekiti, where seven suspects were apprehended, while others fled.

The police recovered two pump-action guns, a Beretta pistol, nine rounds of 9mm live ammunition, and other items. The suspects, identified as Adekunl Stephen, Adepoju Adebayo, Boluwaji Ishola, Oluwatobi Adeoluwa, Akintund Emmanuel, Adewal Makanjuola, and Ibitola Babatop, reportedly confessed to being recruited to disrupt the electoral process.

The police also intercepted an unregistered Toyota Sienna carrying four fleeing suspects. A member of the media team for a federal lawmaker denied any involvement in the alleged plot, which the lawmaker described as politically motivated.
